I'm adding a "red cup" to my sidebar so my wonderful readers (and myself) can donate to the UN's World Food Programme directly from my blog. If I understand correctly, one euro a week (about $1.50) from every person in the developed world would be enough to wipe out hunger on this planet.
If you'd like to take it a step further, consider sponsoring a child through an organization like World Vision or Compassion Intl., or help a family become self-sustaining by donating an animal through Heifer Intl. (Heifer donations make great gifts for friends and family, BTW!)
A dollar fifty a week, folks. Seven bucks a month, to live in a world where children don't have to go to bed hungry. Anyone wanna take the challenge?
