Five Minute Meals (or, everyone else is doing it, so why shouldn't I?)

Anyone who knows me very well knows that cooking is NOT my thing. In fact, I'm not that fond of food in general--I mean, I appreciate it, and I ADORE anything chocolaty, but I if went though the rest of my life eating nothing but Pop Tarts, frozen pizza, Ramen, Honey Smacks, and the occasional box of Samoas (or whatever they're called now), I'd be quite content.

My children, for the most part, share this sentiment. And since my husband actually enjoys cooking, there is no real need to feel sorry for him--he can whip up a platter of something anytime he feels the urge for, well, meat. But as much as I love convenience food, it's not really a healthy way to eat, and it can get ridiculously expensive.

So a couple years back, I began assembling a collection of super-simple, super-healthy (for the most part) recipes that even a culinary flunky like myself can whip up in five minutes flat. Because did I mention, I really, really don't like cooking?

I do, however, like writing. And I know for a fact that there are others like me--people who buy frozen pancakes instead of adding water to the mix and tossing them on the griddle, people who buy their PB&J sandwiches pre-made, people who couldn't bake a cake if they wanted to, because their only pan has been pressed into service as a litter box. You know who you are. So, don't you think it's a time for a blog with recipes for people like us, a collection of TRULY simple throw-together meals for those of us who REALLY. HATE. COOKING.?

I say, AY!

So, I am jumping on the cooking blog chuck wagon. (Don't worry--not all my posts will be about cooking--not by a long shot!) And since I'm serious about hating to cook, AND about the recipes being ridiculously easy--I'm going to have my kids do the cooking! *mwahaha!* So I won't REALLY be cooking--I'll be writing and playing with my kids! That I can handle.

I still wish I could just give myself an injection every day that would give me the necessary nutrients AND keep me from feeling hungry. It's not that I dislike cooking/eating per se, but I dislike that they have to *keep being done continuously*. If I could only do them when I felt like it, life would be much nicer, if food could become a treat rather than a grueling necessity.

So . . . I guess five-minute healthy meals might be the next best thing! Now all I need is some kids to cook them for me. ;)
